Thankful Thursday

Today I am THANKFUL for BEAUTIFUL daughters, that are all around AMAZING young women:)

Today the middle school they attend gave out Merit Awards. Merit Awards are given to students that go above and beyond in the classroom. These students emulate what the teachers would like to see in all of their students both in academic achievements and also in Character.

They chose 30 students out of 500 to receive this award. Kirk and I are truly blessed with wonderful girls. Both Hadyn and Briley received a Merit Award.

They're teachers wrote beautiful and wonderful things about each one of them.
Sometimes as parents it's nice to feel like you might actually be doing something right.
For Kirk and I, this was one of those moments. We are
THANKFUL to a Heavenly Father who leads and guides us as parents. We need all of the help we can get! :)

Briley and Hadyn we love you and are so proud of the Young Women you are becoming!

Proud Momma and Daddy.

Later today I get to attend a Parent Teacher Conference for Macie.
Hopefully she will get the same kind of praise from her teacher. We'll have to see. She's a funny and sweet girl. She can be a bit squirmy and talkative too. I'm interested to hear what her teacher has to say;)
Macie I'm THANKFUL for you too! Your hugs, your kisses, your smile, and your incredible wit!

Another thing I am THANKFUL for this Thursday is the Ensign Magazine.

A couple of days ago I got our November Ensign. The Ensign is a monthly magazine produced by our church. November's Ensign is special because, it has all of the talks printed from our General Conference Meetings. General Conference is Meetings broadcast from Utah where we get to hear talks and instruction from our Prophet and Church Leaders. I am thankful for Leaders that both inspire and direct us.

I am particularly THANKFUL for the "Forget Me Not" Talk.
By Dieter F. Uchtdorf
The above is a free printable I found online relating to his talk. His talk reminds us as women to Never Forget that we truly are precious daughters in God's Kingdom.
I wish every woman in the world could read this talk! It's really AMAZING!
You can find the talk here

What are some of the things that you are THANKFUL for today?
Leave me a comment. I am also THANKFUL for comments! They sort of make my day! :)

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Today, as I thought about what I am THANKFUL for, I thought about places that bring me peace and joy. One of the places I LOVE is the temple. Our church has temples that dot the globe. Our closest temple is in Chicago. I LOVE being at the temple:) It's a place where I can go to escape from the cares and worries of the world. I especially like to go to the temple with my husband. It's fun to be there together. We were married in the Washington D.C. temple. Temples are sacred places. Ordinances in the temple make it possible for families to be together forever:) The temple grounds are beautiful with flowers, trees, and bushes. Just walking outside on the temple grounds is a beautiful experience.

I also really LOVE my home. I am THANKFUL for the peace and love I feel at home. I love the special Spririt I feel here too. We often pray for love and kindness to be in our home.

Don't get me wrong...we are just like any other family with fights and grumpiness. But, for the most part it's a lovely place to be together:)

I also THANKFUL for beautiful Beaches! I love to hear the crash of the waves on the shore. I LOVE the sounds of the seagulls playing and flying about. I love the warmth of the sun on my face and the cool breeze that blows through my hair. I love the sounds, the smells, and the fun we have when we are there together as a family.

Last, but definitely not least, I am THANKFUL to live in America. A place where I am FREE. I love this country! I love the beauty of the land, I love the people who have fought and continue to fight to protect our Freedom, and I love the luxuries I enjoy living here. America is Wonderful and I feel blessed to live here.

Thanks for stopping by. I would love it if you would leave a comment about some of the things you are feeling THANKFUL for today.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

I thought that it would be fun to have THANKFUL THURSDAY every THURSDAY during the month of November. I REALLY LOVE THANKSGIVING! The food, the family, the fun, and a whole month dedicated to showing gratitude and appreciation.

I looked through my pictures and came up with just a few of the things I'm feeling THANKFUL for this Thursday.

I am THANKFUL for the Young Women's Program at our church. It helps young women develop attributes of Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Virtue, and Integrity. These girls set goals in each of these areas and complete a ten hour project for each one too. It is such an inspired program for young women living in these difficult times. I was blessed to finish this program as a youth, and I know that I am a better woman, sister, wife, mother, and daughter of God because of it:)

I am sooooo THANKFUL that I get to be an at Home Momma! This is a pic of Macie's kindergarten field trip to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. I am able to help at school, go on field trips, and be here when my kids leave for school in the morning and when they get home in the afternoon. It's not easy being a 1 income family these days. I am THANKFUL that we have been blessed to, as Tim Gunn would say "Make It Work." :)

I am THANKFUL for Quality Family time. I love going on trips and adventures with this crazy crew. It's nice to get-away and spend time together as a family, without all of life's little interruptions. Here we are at the Indianapolis Motor Speed Way together.

This Thursday, I am also very THANKFUL for these two lovely ladies. This is my grandma Jo-Jo and my mom Yolonda. These two women are absolutely INCREDIBLE!

My grandma Jo-Jo has endured many health challenges in her life. In her early 30's she suffered several strokes and has had to have a heart valve replaced 3 times! She has taught me that no matter what challenges, trials, or sorrows we face in this life, we can always work to have a positive attitude and treat those around us with love and care.

My momma has taught me more things than I have time to list. So, I'll just give you a couple of high-lights. She has taught me that if you really want something, and work hard, you can achieve anything! She followed her dream of going to nursing school while having 4 small children at home. She had always wanted to be a nurse. She didn't have the opportunity to attend college after high school. She didn't let that stop her from fulfilling her dreams.

She also taught me that everyone's path in life is different. She taught me that it's my job as a good human being to show love, kindness, and support to those around me. Especially when they are the least lovable! That's when they need kindness the most.

These are just a few of the things I am Thankful for this Thursday. What are you thankful for today? Take a minute to think about it and please share your thoughts with me. Your comments totally make my day. ( I'm thankful for comments too:)
