Cuff Love

Look what I did yesterday ;) Leather Cuffs are all the rage right now. However, I didn't necessarily want to pay store prices for a unique leather cuff. Well after I did some shopping last week I came up with a cuff that can be made for less than $1.50

I found these at Hobby Lobby last week. 2 Leather cuffs for $2.47 and they just happened to be an extra 30% off. Making the cuffs about 90 cents a piece.

They have several widths and choices of brown and black.

Now...what should I use to embellish these little beauties. I used to be a scrapbook/card maker. So, I have lots of craft supplies laying around just waiting to be transformed into cute accessories. I thought it would be fun to use scrap-booking brads. You can get all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes.

I really like the Spare Parts Brand because they are often 50% off. So as you can see they were also $2.47 and were half off. You only use a few of the brads about 50cents worth or less.

These are the tools I used to punch the holes in the leather.

This is what the holes look like once they're punched. If you use the small hole punch you'll have to put some muscle into it to get the hole to go all the way through.

For this cuff I used brads with letters. You could do a name or initials or a word. Use your inner creativity.

Since brads are removable you can change them out to get different looks. My 7 yr old loves the floral look. My 13 yr old loved the CTR (Choose The Right). You can make them for boys too.
The CTR one could definitely be for a boy.

Mixed metals are really hot in jewelry now. So I used silver and copper to make this forever one for myself. So it takes less than 5mins. and less than$1.50. So what are you waiting for? Let's start with some "cuff love."

  9. Oh, I love this! I was looking at my Hobby Lobby last fall and they didn't have anything leather I could remotely use for a cuff - but if yours has them, I'm going to check again next time I'm there.

    Which might be tonight. :P
